ReplyDeleteYes Shanak, 6TH is a great tool for recognising when a group of people has fallen into that mindset and the discussion is going nowhere. The moderator should then switch the group to a different hat to open the discussion. For example, we've found that when lead teams are looking for new project ideas or want to make changes to internal processes, such as reducing internal bureaucracy, tend to think of as Black Hat. People focus on problems or obstacles to do something new or different. “It will never work”, “Our process does not allow that to happen. They then find themselves stuck in a race, still focused on "why we shouldn't" and as a result nothing has changed and no new ideas come up.
